Under the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015, each RTO offers Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to individual learners—unless the requirements of the training package or licensing requirements prevent this.
h&h offers Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) to all students for each of our qualifications if eligible.
Please connect with us to request a copy of the RPL/CT Application Form should this apply to you.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills and knowledge a person has gained through formal, non-formal, and informal learning, to determine whether they meet the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification.
Formal Learning
Learning that occurs through structured programs that lead to an AQF qualification, such as a certificate or diploma.
Non-Formal Learning
Learning through structured training that does not lead to an AQF qualification, such as in-house professional development or employer-based training.
Informal Learning
Skills acquired through everyday experiences, such as work, volunteering, social activities, or hobbies. For example, someone may develop strong customer service skills through years of retail experience.
h&h has developed an RPL process that is transparent, supportive, and financially manageable for students.
A non-refundable deposit is required to begin the RPL process, based on the qualification level:
Certificate III: $295
Certificate IV: $395
Diploma: $495
This deposit includes access to the Student RPL Kit, which outlines the evidence required to support your application.
To ensure affordability, h&h will never request more than $1,000 in upfront fees prior to services being delivered. Once the deposit is paid, students can enter a payment plan for the remaining balance (based on the current course fee).
Pay the deposit based on the qualification level.
Receive the Student RPL Kit, which includes detailed guidance on compiling your evidence.
Submit your evidence and participate in a meeting with a qualified trainer/assessor.
If RPL is confirmed, a customised plan is developed for completing the assessment (e.g. meetings, gap training, further evidence).
Upon completion of all requirements and final payment, your nationally recognised qualification may be issued.
For detailed guidance or to begin your RPL journey, please contact our office on (02) 9682 0100.
Credit Transfer is the formal recognition of learning achieved through previous Vocational Education and Training (VET) or higher education. If you have already completed an identical or equivalent unit, you may be eligible to receive credit and will not be required to repeat that unit.
To apply for Credit Transfer, you must provide formal evidence demonstrating that you have successfully completed the unit or a unit with equivalent content and learning outcomes. Acceptable evidence includes:
A qualification certificate or transcript
A Statement of Attainment
Your official USI transcript
Once verified, the credit will be applied, and you will not need to undergo any further training or assessment for that unit.
