About this course.

Are you looking to advance your childcare career? The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50125) is designed for dedicated and ambitious educators who hope to develop, implement, and assess early childhood education and care programs. You will gain a holistic education on all essential aspects of children’s services. This includes understanding current curriculums, national learning frameworks, legislative requirements, and adopting a holistic approach to child development.

What will you study?

Our Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50125) includes 12 core units and 3 electives. These units will equip you with advanced skills to excel in a professional setting, including critical thinking, teamwork, and supporting personal well-being.

Work Placement.

Overview

As part of our qualification you’re required to complete 280 hours of work placement. Placements are generally full-time (280 hours in total) and are completed on weekdays, which not only allows you an opportunity to develop learnt skills but also valuable industry work experience and could lead to employment opportunities.

We have long standing relationships with several childcare centres and facilities, some even being run by previous h&h students. If you require assistance arranging work placement, we can connect you with an organisation. 

Working with Children Check

The Working With Children Check is a requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work in NSW. For information you can click here to read our student handbook.

Entry Requirements

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who:

  • Hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or
    CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care,
    Or, alternatively,
    hold Australian diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an Australian
    diploma or certificate III in Children’s Services,
    and
    demonstrate at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time
    equivalent) within the last 5 years in a regulated education and care service in
    Australia, supported by verifiable evidence,
    or hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and
    Care.
  • It is encouraged that students are over 18 years of age, if a student is under the
    age of 18, guardian / parental consent is required.
  • Students must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or applicable visa
    holder.
  • Students must have a sound knowledge of English language, literacy, and
    numeracy LLN (this information is obtained at the enrolment process, prior to
    enrolment acceptance by h&h).
To complete this course you’ll need:
 
  • A valid Working With Children Check.

All h&h courses/qualifications are nationally recognised. The issuing of testamurs requires compliance with all processes. When competency has been achieved, students will be issued with a Qualification or Statement of Attainment (SOA) within 28 days of college staff receiving the finalised student file.
